Your deadline
Notice of loss or damage to the moving company
The published window to submit notice of loss or damage is 180 calendar days from delivery. Notice requires only the item name, inventory number, and a brief damage description — not full detail.
Loss or damage discovered later is added on the published after-delivery notice within the same window, and multiple claims may be filed for the same shipment.
Notice is not required at all if the claim itself is filed within 180 calendar days of delivery.

Your deadline
File the itemized claim
For shipments picked up on or after May 15, 2026, the published filing window is 12 months from delivery. Filing after the window limits recovery to depreciated value rather than full replacement value.
NTS and DPM claims are filed directly with the moving company by email, fax, or mail — not in DPS.
