The published requirement is that the moving company pay, deny, or make an offer within 30 calendar days of receiving a claim valued at $1,000 or less, and within 60 calendar days for larger claims.

Counteroffers have a published response window

An offer on a claim is not the end of the process — the published rules give the moving company 7 calendar days to respond to a counteroffer. A counteroffer states, item by item, the amount requested and the documentation it rests on.

Payment after settlement

Once a settlement is agreed, the published requirement is payment within 30 calendar days.

How replacement value frames the numbers

Under the published Full Replacement Value definition, a damaged item is covered at repair cost or full replacement cost, whichever is less; lost or destroyed items are replaced with a new like item or paid at undepreciated new-replacement cost. Repair estimates, replacement listings, and purchase records are the documentation those figures rest on.
